Lighting is a permanent issue for location car photography, especially if you want to travel with the minimum of weight and gear. Traditionally, location lighting bigger than strobes has needed mains power, but this kit by Elinchrom looks superb.

If you’re intimidated by big off camera lighting kits, this video by The Flash Centre gives you a run down on how simple it is to set up a system like this and is worth the 8 minute run time. I’ll be talking about location lighting for car photography in another part of Car Photography 101, but this video is a good starter.
